XF 1.1 Search Feature Not Working

    Hi,

I am testing the search feature on my XF forum and it said too few characters (3). So I went in and changed it to '3' in the 'Search Options' section in admin.

Now it does not return any results.

Then I read this in the search options section:

'This is the minimum length of a word that can be searched by the index. With the default search system, this should correspond with the MySQL full text minimum word length (normally 4).'

So do I need to change something in the MySQL to make this work?

    Hi,

Thanks for the link...but that SQL stuff is pretty confusing.

My forum isn't even launched yet so do I have rebuild the index as you say?

Yes. And MySQL needs to be restarted after you change that setting in the MySQL configuration.

Don't know how to do any of this.

Is there anyone on here that can?

Admin CP -> Tools -> Rebuild Caches -> Rebuild Search Index

The process is server-intensive so you may want to run it during off hours.
