I have same problem as chrisnarts.

I think when User Logged in, you should add the option as Upgrade account with the text box in ACP allow admin input link upgrade account.

It means:

That contents only for the specific Group Members. And The users must upgrade to read that content.

If is restrict content, I think we need one option with this Logic:

The Unregister users must login to read full content of the exclude Categories or not login to read full content of the exclude categories.

With this option, your addon will is the best Restrict content View.

In future, you can think about read free some threads before show notice to read all thread.

Ok, all usergroups can view but not guests. Is this what you want ?
