XF 1.5 Replace attached pictures?

Is it possible to replace an attached picture using FTP, I have the same picture embeded in too many posts , I want to change it but not to remove it.

It's possible but it would require locating the specific image in the internal_data directory, replacing that and the equivalent thumbnail in the data directory, and also updating the database if any of the file properties are different (height, width, size, etc.).
