XF 2.3 Add option to hide or ignore other users’ profile pictures

Hello,
We have a situation where some users upload profile images that others may find distracting or inappropriate.

Just like users can ignore another user's posts, would it be possible to offer an option to hide that user’s profile picture as well?

This would improve the experience for users who want more control over what they see on the forum.

Do you mean banners rather than avatar's? You can turn the option to upload banners off in permissions.

No, there are users who upload annoying avatars, and while it’s distracting to some, most users don’t really mind.

That’s why I don’t want to disable avatars for everyone — I’d just like to have an option for users to hide specific avatars for themselves only.

Is there any built-in feature for this, or maybe an add-on that does it?

So that’s the issue.
There’s a wide variety of users here, and what’s totally fine for one person can feel edgy or distracting to another.
Because of that, I can’t just block certain users from uploading avatars — it wouldn’t be fair.

What I’m trying to find, is something similar to the “ignore posts” feature — just like a user can choose to ignore someone’s posts, they should also have the option to hide that user’s avatar from their own view.
It would be a personal preference, not a global setting.

I don't know if there is an addon like that. I'd be tempted to just do an announcement post to tell everyone to limit their avatars to whatever. And if any avatars are too distracting they will be removed. Then you just delete the distracting ones, rather than turning off the permission. But maybe depends what topic your forum is. If it's not too many members you could just message them and ask them to change it and say it's distracting!
