Question regarding multiple installations

I have the idea of taking my forum (University Forums) and adding some "sub" forums, in sub directories, for specific universities. So, I'd have for example for my own school, indstate.universityforums.net which would go to a forum for ISU but associated directly with UF, the main (mother) site. Same forum technically, just spread out. I'd also use the single sign on add on so they even share accounts between the forums.

My question for you (someone who can actually answer) is can I use my license for UF to install this since it's for the same domain (just using sub domains here) or would I need a new license for each project? It'd be ridiculous to buy a new license for each university that requested their own forum. If I can't use my license to do this, is there any "plan" available to buy a multi-use license instead of buying countless ones?

What Insy said. Technically that kind of partitioning requires multiple licenses.

This little addon makes it possible to partition a forum by domain name via different styles:

This requires some effort to get running smoothly.

Or you can of course install separate instances of XenForo on each subdomain which is easier, but then you need to worry about SSO since it's multiple user bases:

Interesting code, that's an alternative though I'll most likely just use MyBB forums.

But that requires multiple licenses right? This is what I was talking about in the OP.
