Question about Installing, Sub domain and XenPorta

Hi there, I'm new here and new to XenForo. I need some help and suggestion. I would like to know if I should install it on my /forum/ folder? and make it a sub domain like forum.mysite.com How can I do so?

Also, How can I make XenPorta as my main page? For example, mysite.com will be XenPorta? and forum will be forum.mysite.com

For the configuration your suggesting, I'd recommend having your main site as http://mysite.com and your forum being http://mysite.com/forum.

If you did want a sub-domain then you would have to configure that through your hosting account such as through cPanel or Plesk... but to me it just makes sense to have www.mysite.com and www.mysite.com/forum.

Once you have XenPorta installed there is an option to set the Portal as your Index controller. This basically means that www.mysite.com will take you to XenPorta and www.mysite.com/forums will take you to the forums.

I've installed on folder /forums/ however the XenPorta is not working right. Home is /forums/ and forum link is /forums/forum

I've set it to Set as Index Controller

You don't need to install it into the forums folder.

If we were starting again, you would:

1) Install the forum to http://mysite.com (no folder!)
2) Install XenPorta
3) Configure Set as Index Controller

That would then leave you with

http://mysite.com as your XenPorta homepage/portal and your forums would be automatically moved to http://mysite.com/forum

I got it. So there is no way for me to do what i want? forums as sub domain? The default forum will be moved to /forum. can I rename it to forums instead?

As I say, it will be a server configuration rather than XenForo. So either configure it through your webhosting Control Panel or contact your hosting provider.
