Promotions acting up

I setup a new 'Members' ugroup, and all new Registered users are promoted to that group after their first moderated post is approved. Seems to work fine, except (twice now on my test user) the secondary Members group is unchecked the next day for that user. At present, the test user has two approved posts, so this should not be an issue. Any ideas?

A user can be demoted if they later fail to meet the criteria of that promotion. Or maybe they were manually removed from the group by an admin.

I am the only admin, and did not demote. Just me myself and I at present. Must be the promo settings then, along with the chair-keyboard interface. I have is not a member of (Administrative, Moderating, Members) in addition to at least x posts (1).

If they get promoted then they are no longer not a member of Members...

Remove that requirement.
