Problem uploading more than 30 pictures

I have been having some problems uploading 30 or more images.
Anything under 3o images its fine.

The problem is more than 30 images.

At the time, I was uploading 80 images. I was getting a big error message but i was unable to see what it said because it quickly shutdown my server. The cloudflare screen came up and i think it was either a error 522,521 or 520 i can't remember the error screen I had to wait 8 seconds then refresh and my site was back online. It keep happening every time i uploaded a big amount of images.

It did not produce an server error in the admin panel.



So i tried with 50 images instead and i am unable to upload that many images also.

What would be causing this?

this all happens after i upload the images and i press "Save Media"

The first error after i press save media its shuts down my website,

The second error It just gets stuck on that page with the "Save Media" I click it and it gives me an error message. Can't go any farther.

And only when i upload more than 30 pictures.

I can usually upload 100-200 at a time relatively easily, and even then it doesn't take longer than 30 seconds, though if you're watermarking the images that can take longer -- even longer if they're animated gif image you're uploading.

It can of course take longer if the images are large, too, as it takes more effort and potentially more time to create thumbnails of them.

I'm unsure what would be causing the first error, but certainly the second error relates to the max_execution_time in PHP.

Though, really, 30 seconds should be enough. If you can tell me a little more about the pictures you're uploading, file size, resolution, whether they are animated or not there may be an explanation as to why it's taking so long.

Mission: Upload all images to album

Time to upload all images after pressing on "upload": 1 minute 39 seconds
Set All Descriptions & Titles: 2 seconds
Press Save Media: Shuts down server.

This time i used a camera to record what happens when i press save media. So i was able to capture the error screen before disappears. Here is what the error screen said:

The Following Error 520 Ray ID: 1dca (numbers and time here)
Web server is returning an unkown error
You

Error
What happened
There is unkown connection issue between cloudflare and the origin web server,

should i increase the max_execution_time in the php?
Would that solve my problem? What time should i do it? 2 minutes?

After i press "Save Media" It shows that small thinking icon. Like it's going to save but about 6 seconds it shuts down and goes to the cloudflare screen. It never goes past 30 seconds after pressing save media.

It takes about 10 seconds to come back. All i have to do is refresh. If i refresh before the 10 second it just shows the cloudflare screen.

If you turn watermarking off, does that improve things?
I have tried again this time with watermark disabled and it saves the media. I don't get errors and it doesn't shut down the server.

Update..

I have changed the:

max_execution_time
to
240 seconds

and it worked! It saved the media! It didn't shut down my server or give me any problems.

This was with watermark enabled. It seems we have solved the problem.
