Now that Xenforo 1.1 is out, let's talk about version 1.2

There was communication a few days ago - Kier himself posted.

As one of those who vocally called for a status update, Kier's post more than fulfilled that. Barely a week later, there is no cause for concern on that score. We can't expect Kier to post every few days telling us that everything's still ok.
Totally agreed. I was one of those who aired my concern before Kier's post last week. His reassurance was more than good enough. Why some people still whine about this is beyond me. I have full confidence in Xenforo now.

This is proof that XenForo really DID steal concepts from vBulletin - the concept of not providing a roadmap! :)
It's not stealing. It's the same guy !
Kier had no roadmap for the vB3 series, and no roadmap for the Xenforo.

Does IB have a roadmap for the vB 4.x series ?
URL ?

It's ridiculous to think they don't have a roadmap. They have not provided a public roadmap. ;)

It's sad to see developers and admins cutting and running (to whatever degree) because of lack of communication. While I'm sure everyone appreciated Kier posting something, it was about as ambiguous of a post as is possible.

It certainly did not answer much other than, reading between the lines, that things are tight with money due to the lawsuit. That's not positive news.

I hope to use XF for a decade or more...and am definitely in the cheering section! But that does not mean I, nor anyone else, walks around with their eyes closed.

Clearly, people here have never been involved in legal proceedings. It is physically and emotionally draining. You feel that your life and your work are going to get sucked down a drain and there is little you can do to prevent it. No matter how much of a fight Kier, Mike, Ashley, and XF put up, there is a cost to a lolsuit like this. It's like running a marathon and someone has applied tar to the road surface. It's going to slow you down and lead to much struggling just to keep moving forward.

I think folks need to look at XenForo as it stands today (including add-ons) and find the ways it can serve the needs of their community NOW. I have no doubt that the next version will be great, but you have to build your community not on what might come, but what you can use right now. XenForo is a great platform and we can all do our parts to improve that platform. It's far more constructive than naysaying.

I'm sure Kier and Mike are all working as hard as they can.

It really is a shame as I love Xenforo it is much more modern than the others (all of them!).

I didn't see Kiers post so i'm a bit out of the loop but i wish them all the best but i may look elsewhere myself.

:( ..... But the software is still great. No target they set missed. Everything delivered as promised. Surely people wanna wait till something more happens at least, I mean at the end of the day what do you have to lose by waiting?

Xenforo 1.2 doesn't have to be a miracle release to be a success.
It just needs to come out sooner than later.
That'll quiet down the hungry lions.

I mean at the end of the day what do you have to lose by waiting?
Time ?
And time is ....
money?

I guess, in a sense, something did happen. All three members of the team went from being part of the community on an almost daily ongoing basis - to not being so. That is/was their own decision as is every part of the PR around it.

As I've said, I intend to stick with XF as long as they exist...which I hope is forever. But I don't think anyone should fault the questions being asked about the general situation. Something is up...and Kier admitted as much. After all, if you work for nothing for a few years and feel like crap about it, that's "something".

I agree that you can't win...damned if you do and if you don't. Still, there are ways of handling things which are better and worse. I'm not rendering judgement on where this lies on that scale, due to obvious lack of information. I always wish everyone success - especially the little guys who bust their asses.

I didn't see Kiers post either. Am trying to find it so I know what's going on.

I was just laughing reading the title of this thread "let's talk about version 1.2". You know, it would be nice if the developers could confirm that XenForo 1.2 is actually still coming? Where nearly one full month into the second quarter now, and still nothing being said in relation to it, nor what we can expect to see added new.

I mean, will you even confirm that XenForo 1.2 is coming (serious question)?
