Note-taking software other than OneNote and EverNote?

I have a new laptop at home. First thing I did was dump MS 365 (it came preinstalled but I have no intention of putting money into MS's bank account) and put on LibreOffice. Took some other preinstalled stuff off. However, I kept OneNote (the computer also had EverNote preinstalled, enabling me to discover I still had a pile of notes there from when I tried it out a while back) since that's where my writer's notebook and other personal notes are right now. I did some searching and there are some open source options but none that seem to have an easy migration path from OneNote and none that seems as flexible as it or even Evernote.

So, I thought that this place has a lot of power user types who might have some thoughts I wonder if anyone here has any knowledge of note-taking software other than the two I have already mentioned. OneNote has a free Windows app for now but I am worried about how long that lasts. After all, it used to be bundled in Office so is technically part of MS 365 now. Evernote's utility is limited if you don't pay for premium (a subscription) and it lacks some of the flexibility of OneNote. E.g. it would be hard to do the "character map" I made for a story idea i was working on at one point showing the relationships among the rather large cast (for one of my stories).

There's also Scrivener, which is geared to writing and I think has capability for taking and organizing notes about the drafts you're doing but I need to look at it again. Been a while and I didn't partake before for sundry reasons. It's still a one-time purchase rather than a sub, which is a nice plus.

Anyone?

...I just use Project Management tools like ClickUp 🥲.
Oh that looks nice! I'll have to give it a try out.

I currently go back and forth between Notion and Obsidian (I love obsidian to the moon and back though).

Edit: for project management though I have switched over to Linear from JIRA

ClickUp is my current favorite tool, especially if you do not need a lot of the paid features.

EDIT: RamBox also makes maintaining multiple accounts amazing 🥹. I have 4 different ClickUp accounts for different businesses.

Google Drive/Docs
That's been my writing tool for years now. I am trying out LibreOffice since I am trying to go a bit "old school" on this new laptop including being able to easily work offline.

Thanks for the suggestions. Will give them a look this weekend maybe (it's a long weekend in Canada).

NP. I'm rarely ever offline so it doesn't really hurt me at all.

Notion user. Like it, not a huge power user like some are though. I use it for just notes.. no db's or anything.

At work we swear by Notion - but we are pretty hardcore; we run not only our internal wiki off it but all client ticket tracking, leave calendar and team kanban boards from it. Plus, those times you just need to take some notes.
