if no users are registered in a forum it means that it is not an interesting forum.

You can easily use XF as a blog. You can use XF for a ton of cool things.

Not necessarily.... I run my site for myself... if others want to join and participate, great.. if not, that's fine also.
I set it up to have somewhere to store my content I wanted to create and didn't want to do it on a blog.
Plus, I like playing with various scripts.

He reminds me of some folks over at a site that I used to be a member of that prides themselves on their regressive behavioral patterns...
But, being in law enforcement as long as I was, I learned how to deal with those that had "issues".... nice thing is, now that I'm out of it I don't always have to play by the rules. All you can do is hope that one day they may grow up.

Yes. The Facebook group for the niche is relatively active. I theorize that'll I'll be able to pull in at least 10 or so active members from there to get the ball rolling.

I'm adding some really cool features that the niche will like that aren't available on the other site or Facebook group. (Basically a full database of things in the niche using @Bob 's IMS)

We'll see if I'm successful. It's been ages since I launched a new forum.
