Nimbus hosting - Now terrible - September 2025

Luckily I switched to Porkbun not long ago. Was a diehard Namecheap user for domains (mainly due to their holiday twitter event they used to do where you answered for free domains, had around 40), but no longer have anymore credit and am in the final part of transitioning the last of my domains to porkbun.

I wouldn’t recommend going with https://krystal.io/ .One small but telling detail: in the footer they have a link to bluesky, but not to X.com. That may sound minor, but it reflects a clear ideological stance...

Companies that deliberately avoid linking to X usually align themselves with a certain political/ideological position. This can matter because if you host content that doesn’t fit their worldview, you may end up facing friction, anything from subtle bias in support to even potential suspensions.

In other words, you’re not just buying hosting you’re also buying into the company’s values. If their values clash with yours, that can create bigger problems down the line than just server downtime.

All sites and projects I own/manage stopped using X not because of the ideological shift (if that were the case, Facebook and Instagram would also be dropped), but because of the severe lack of moderation for porn bots and increased CSAM since Musk took over.

Also, if that is where you draw the line that says more about you than it does about the company lol.

Good for them if perhaps they have core ethical values they put above sheer profit making.

Or maybe they just forgot to put X there.
“Maybe they forgot" doesn’t fly. WebArchive shows that in 2024 Krystal’s footer did link to X. Now it doesn’t. That’s not an oversight that’s a deliberate removal.

And spare me the talk about "core values". What values exactly? Censoring people, deplatforming anyone outside their bubble, while letting mobs joke about the murder of innocents or spew hate so long as it’s the right kind of hate? Those are some "ethical values" indeed.
They didn’t forget. They made a political choice. And if you host with them, you’re buying into that choice whether you like it or not.

Come on, that argument doesn’t hold.

Spam bots and porn? That was on Twitter long before Musk. In fact, enforcement numbers went up after 2023, so pretending this suddenly became ‘the reason’ just when Musk took over feels like a convenient excuse.

And if CSAM was really the line, why keep Facebook and Instagram? Their record on that front is way worse. Yet those links stay, while only X gets cut. That looks selective, not principled.

For context I keep my projects present on all major platforms: X, TruthSocial, Bluesky. I don’t agree with everything on any of them, but I care about reaching audiences where they are. TS is obviously an echo chamber for the right, BS is clearly an echo chamber for the left. Only X functions as an actual central hub. But here’s the kicker: when I logged into BS last week to post, the trending feed was full of people openly celebrating the murder of Charlie Kirk and wishing death on his supporters and family. That really made me wonder what kind of "values" BS is supposed to represent.

So don’t sell it as some noble safety move. It’s ideology dressed up as morality. And if a company is willing to quietly erase X while keeping Meta and promoting BS, it tells you exactly which side of the echo chamber they want to be on.

I no longer link to X. The reason is not political, it’s purely because they shut down my account. So the reason could be as simple as something like that.

In my case it was quite simple. I got a message saying I had to put in my D.O.B. I did so and just got a message saying it could not verify and my account was closed.

Same happened to me. I’d been a member since very early on (2007ish) but it was a different place then. Got asked for DOB, I thought it would be fun to put in my sites date of birth as it was over 18. I was then told that I’d joined Twitter as a minor so my account was now invalid.

It really isn't. Not since Elon Musk has taken over. He's the one that keeps messing with things.
Twitter was a censorship machine long before Musk. People were getting nuked for saying men aren’t women, for posting the Hunter Biden laptop story etc. After he acquired Twitter, it's obvious that he's experimenting. But at least you can actually say things now without an army of hall monitors shadow-banning you for wrongthink. Engagement is higher, speech is freer, and people who were permanently banned for trivial or political reasons got their voices back.

So blaming Musk for "messing things up" is upside down. The mess was already there, he’s the first guy who actually tried to clean it out.
