Nimbus hosting - Now terrible - September 2025

Since Tim at Nimbus Hosting sold out, the new owners aren't very good. Poor and slow support from pretty much the day they bought it.

Nimbus weren't perfect, but they were a lot better than this outfit.

Anyone know of a decent alternative that includes UK based human support. Ideally not just 9am-5pm. Upgrades done out of UK working hours. Someone picks up the phone who knows what they are talking about.

We have xenforo, wordpress install and magento hosted.

Many thanks

Try @MattW he’s a member here and uses xenForo himself. I switched from Nimbus and he sorted the issues that they couldn't

I use IONOS formerly 1&1 for UK based hosting (although they are international)
Always found the support ok and they are available 24/7, depending what package you have they dont always do fixes for you but where appropriate they provide instructions and/or documentation for you to do the job yourself, i have used cloud, VPS and now dedi with them and happy with them all.

Not sure how their pricing compares to others as not shopped around in a while.

I'm growing increasingly concerned...

I've always had something go wrong when Nimbus have migrated my servers, even with Tim watching over them, so I asked their support team to do the current migration for me. Had it scheduled in for over a month to happen last week. Got a message on the day saying they were "too busy" and to do it myself. I pushed back and they said they'd do it but it might be "late in the day". It didn't happen. Pushed again. They said it'd happen the next day. Still nothing. Nothing over the weekend. No update today. Only a few days left until their deadline and I'm getting nervous that it won't happen or be supported properly.

Paying a premium with Nimbus for decent support feels like it might now be a bad choice :-(

I was a Nimbus customer for years and before that Global Gold. Since Tim sold it lost a lot of the personal touch.

I recently (like last month) moved to Krystal.io and though it’s been a month, it’s been cheaper and a much better service.

Thanks will take a look at https://krystal.io/.

Everytime I raise a ticket with the current Nimbus outfit, it's sit their unassigned. I then have to call them up and speak to someone that seems to then message the technical team. Then get off the phone and nothing happens.

Ridiculous.

Nimbus under Tim wasn't perfect but a lot better than this outfit.

I’ve been using Knownhost for over 10 years. I never and I mean never experienced any issues with them. My websites are always online and their support is top notch. Check them out.

I've been with IONOS, formerly 1and1, for over 30 years and still with them today. A few minor outages which were quickly fixed. I've only used their shared hosting, but always find it nippy and does the job for me. They have some excellent pricing for shared and VPS hosting. They are international, but have offices in many countries, including the UK. This is the current pricing for shared hosting:

Hi - we've hosted with Nimbus for years on a dedicated server and they have just totally messed up a migration despite agreements on a ticket they would wait for my green light yesterday, and then went and did exactly what I asked them not to do today, and there is no going back. Shambles, spent ages on the phone, previous tickets ignored. Will be looking for a new UK host as well.

You're not the only one—we recently heard from a customer who was also looking to move away from Nimbus Hosting. In one of their recent migrations there were significant delays in ticket updates (about 20 hours) so it was unclear whether the migration was successful, especially since the testing URL wasn’t working!

Our hosting is based in the USA and Canada, but we’d be happy to provide you with a testing forum so you can evaluate performance and see if it meets your needs.

Someone called Dom at Nimbus Hosting eventually got back to us on the tickets. He seems to know what he is talking about but we still have a couple of issues left to resolve. I think the front line just take the calls and decide if to escalate it someone technical like Dom. Not the best system and it's a slow process. We've lost a couple of days of business now thanks to Nimbus.

Thank you for the recommendations. I do like to have the option of being able to pick up the phone when our website is down, otherwise tickets is fine and my preference would be a UK telephone number. So https://krystal.io/ looks possible although I can't see a telephone number.

I've emailed @MattW but nothing back yet.

Isn't it mad that companies get bought out and they ruin them. But guess it makes financial sense to them!

I haven’t looked to see if there’s a tel number but when my site was down, they emailed me before I’d noticed, temporarily bumped up the specs, and told me what might have caused it.

Might depend on what service you are using of there’s as to the level of support but I’ve no complaints so far

Thanks. Actually I have just found a London telephone number for pre-sales.

Yeah, I’m really hoping Dom sorts it out as he at least sounds like he knows what he’s doing, even if he’s over-worked and backlogged.

What specifically did they mess up for you? Might help me to know!

What did they do?

Said they would hold off on a server migration until I told them I was ready as some testing was due to be done on an upgrade on the new server. confirmed the day before they would wait, the next day out of the blue migrated and told me they had done it with great fanfare! now said they made a mistake as it was busy and different teams were involved.
