The previously reported issue occurred again after upgrading to version 2.2.

I've spent some time trying to reproduce this and haven't had any luck. I don't believe there are any particularly relevant code changes in this area either. (If I disable the code that was added from that bug fix, I can reproduce it, so I know this code is still working.)

At this point, my only guess could be an add-on or something that caused the count to become incorrect at some point (as it won't rectify itself retroactively). Conversations would have to be rebuilt via the control panel to fix any incorrect counts and then you'd need to monitor to see if it comes back at some point.

If anyone else can reproduce this, that would be helpful to know.
