XF 2.0 @ Mention System Question

Hello,

Just a quick one I did a search but only really found Xen1 answers...

If you mention someone in a post do they always get an alert?

I never got one earlier and found that I had been mentioned...

Or is there a setting to always get an alert on mention?

You will only get a mention alert if the person mentioning you does it when they are creating the content. If they make a post, edit it and then mention you in that edit, the alert won't trigger.

Also if the person mentioning you doesn't have a value greater than 0 (or unlimited) for the maximum mention alerts permission, that will also prevent it.

I noticed this in the permissions, is this for the amount of overall alerts a member can get...

Or is that over a length of time IE after a forum cron clean up runs???

It’s the number of alerts a member can trigger using mentions in a single message.

It prevents people from being annoying by mentioning a bunch of people in a single message.
