You're ignoring the needs of the people already using this addon. They may well be unwilling to accept a change to the design. And Lior may be unwilling to force a design change on them. Which is why my proposal suggests having two alternatives with one of them being the way the system is right now (even though I really don't like the current way the Best Answer is displayed at all, which is why I proposed my alternative). And also that means it's easier for Lior to modify.
You have to consider what other people might want as well when making suggestions. There is no point in proposing things which would be specific requirements to your forum only, and ideas should be as generic as possible.

With regard to the number of votes, since the system could have the Best Answer have 2 votes by 2 people with a voting power of 3 (score of 6) and the alternative best answer have 5 votes by 5 people all with a voting power of 1 (score 5) then it would clearly be confusing to show the number of votes. The 'score' would be a better term to use, I think. Otherwise I don't think my suggestion needs any more detail.

Actually I always made consideration of others' needs before suggesting something, quote below is a good example

Please don't misunderstand me, you didn't annoy me. I hope we can all work together to suggest the best ideas for Lior.
I think your solution for displaying the Best Answer under post 1 in your design is better than the existing implementation. The problem for Lior might be that it's too different for existing users to take, but not significantly different enough to change to it. I hope he likes the idea. Let's see.
The problem might be that there is so little input from other users at the moment.

This new update is AWESOME!

It looks so much more elegant and puts the focus on content, allowing the visitor the best experience. It also is much easier to understand- previously it seemed a bit like a double post when the "Best Answer" was also one of the first few replies. Our members are going to really love this and I think it also gives threads a much more authoritative feel that could increase the likelihood of backlinks and social sharing.

Downloaded the 1.4.0 however am getting the following error when I try upgrading / or after I uninstalled the old on and tried installing the new one.

I’m having some issues with marking my posts as best answered

Try and mark ANY post as best answer (I’ve enabled it in the Forum options) but this happens:

So then I mark it as “Best Answer”

Nothing happens except the popup to say "Post has been marked as BEst Answer" – no page refresh or anything….

I refresh the page and the post is still exactly where it was – no indicator or prefix to say it’s been answered.

The post hasn't moved to first position either, It’s still at the bottom of the page and no prefix is appearing in view


Please help asap as we have to launch the Forum on Friday to our customer base

i just updated from a previous working version and i am having the exact same issue..
 
Ah at least someone else is experiencing this, right now I'm going through all my add-on's disabling them to find what is causing the problem....

Only problem is I have about 14 add-ons! >.< Not what I need right now :(

I'll PM you a list Fred - see if we have something in common with add-on's and see if that;s the issue or bad code in the latest release :(
 
"3" - each user (under moderators) has a voting power of "1".

Except Moderators and Admins have "Mark any post as Best Answer" enabled.

Will try a different post and feedback, but I've tried a different one that I tested before - last night.

I think the terminology might be confusing you here.
The Permission to "Mark any post as Best Answer" you refer to above, I think, overrides the restriction that members can't vote their own reply as best answer. So moderators and admin can vote their own reply as best answer.
The Moderator's and Admin's ability to Mark any post as Best Answer does not make that post the best answer. It still needs the minimum number of voting points to become the best answer.
@Lior. will be able to confirm that I have this correct.

Assuming you are in the moderation group, give that group a voting power of 3. That means when you Mark a post as the Best Answer, it instantly becomes the best answer. Otherwise, I don't think it will do.

No problem. Using Unlimited doesn't make sense for this type of number really, as that is usually used where there is a top limit on a number, rather than a minimum. And Lior does say in the documentation that left as zero (or I assume unlimited), the vote will be counted as 1. But this is the standard way that numbers are handled in the admin, so that's why Unlimited is there as an option, I guess.
