I am guessing it refers to how an Ignored User still shows up as "Ignored Member" in the forum list if they are the latest poster in a forum. Like so:
It has been a thorn in my side because I used to ignore a poster who frequently responds in nonsense verse all over the place. I would come in to the board in the morning to find almost every forum showing "Ignored Member" as the last poster, which makes ignoring that person kind of pointless. You still see that they've been on a tear again.
Ignored posters also still show up in a thread listing if they are the last poster in that thread, also a PITA if you really are trying to literally ignore them. Like so (trimmed out the avatar and user name):
So I think the OP, like me, wishes ignoring someone would make them completely invisible, not just anonymized. It would make "Ignore" more useful, IMHO.
When I ignore a member, the assumption is that I won't get any indication that they exist. Obviously this isn't the case since we have to put up with last post being by "ignored member" instead of it just not showing as having a last post, which is irritating enough, but I would like to suggest...
