Let's bring the discussion back to something more fun like 2.4. :)

I'm looking forward to it. Custom field fun mostly.

What are you looking the most forward to?
Ooh and direct message labels - that's going to be awesome.

The only thing that's useful for my forum is the TipTap editor.
Likewise and I'm even a bit meh on that. If it wasn't for the problems Froala has with Firefox, I would be fine with it. And I am probably the only FF user on my site.

TipTap has got 75% less errata and is more pleasurable to do advanced formatting with.
My site is nerdy, so that matters.

We implemented TipTap on another app, and it went very well.

Some features are important, but they are definitely late to the game. Proof of this is that some have taken 8 years to be implemented since they were first suggested, and until not long ago, there were free addons available. I wonder how long it would have taken a third-party developer to get a custom field filtering addon ready, for example... I'm convinced it wouldn't even take a month.

Could the solution be for XF to release their own addons instead of integrating everything into the core? Lately, I've noticed that some developers use a base addon to write the code and then specific addons to develop the concrete features...

Custom field filtering addon is already available - but it really should be baked into core XF.

That's what I said. With the question I wanted to emphasize that I don't think it's an overly complicated feature to implement, especially when there are developers who have already offered it for free.

- The updated WYSIWYG / TipTap editor.
Users will enjoy this. If this editor (on the public facing side) can be dynamically updated from the original GitHub repo releases and not be locked down to XF Release cycles, that would be amazing. Even more amazing is if we could load on 3rd party extensions to this editor - but that's a massive ask.

- Add-on update notifications.
This will be one of the best under-the-hood features for the XF platform.

- Wishlist: Much more native CDN/block-storage support with proper CDN file management controls.
Native support would mean I don't need to edit the config.php file to add a bunch of configuration overrides and credential information, it'd be self contained within the Admin Control Panel. Additionally, the uploading of purely static content (JavaScript, images, and some CSS) from the XF core to a CDN. I want to offload as much static stuff from the web server as possible.

I need the built in REPL/console, would make testing code logic a bit faster, and I'm a person that likes to stay in the command line.
