Is it difficult to extend the Likes system to new content?

Our editorial content @ AVForums doesn't currently have a Like system.
Would it be time consuming to extend the standard XF like system to allow members to Like our content? Including the permissions etc.?
(It's *so* 'likable'!)

I have extended the like handler. xenforos internal systems are nothing but amazing. It took me some time to dig into the mvc, its really mostly done in a nice way. I feel that in some places there can be an even more modular approach, its great that xf 2.0 will work with objects.
