Is IPS still kinda slow?

Back when VB was the forum king, I found Invision to be a great alternative. However, ever since Xenforo came out I found XF to be faster even for big communities.

So my question is, does IPS still have speed problems or has it improved since then?

Again this is just my own personal experience.

I've always thought IPS was kinda slow... but I think its more related to all the overhead of the HTML/JS.

In fact, I think XF2 is a little bit slower than XF1.

I don't know, it's based upon your previous experience. Seems to be fairly fast, but I'll let you tell me. It's not busy as I've been rather busy with other stuff (still learning the guitar) and a few users (who never showed back up) had asked me to bring it back online.

I personally don't find it "slow".

Obviously, a forum's speed can be subjective based on various factors like hosted on a shared, a vps or a dedicated server etc... it would be interesting to see all top-forum scripts running naked on a same server configuration.

@Tracy Perry
Now, your website is freaking fast! Do you mind telling us the server configuration... thank you :)

Xenforo is fast, but mine is sitting on top of a 20 core dual Xeon processor with 96gb of ram. I haven’t used forums in years, but noticed it’s faster. I’m glad I did not not use my vb5 license. Vb5 seeems like it’s dying.
