Lack of interest independent bot file

At the moment the 'bot file' in sessions.php (as noted here). The problem regarding this is every XenForo update overwrite this file, but more so there is A LOT more going on in sessions.php than just keeping track of bots and so one cannot just easily keep their own local copy without first manually reviewing the possible changes each time during an update.

Suggest that the bots be tracked by their own independent file bots.php or perhaps an XML file (bots.xml) for easier maintenance

I have to agree.... with the large number of bots that are in existence, this would be the easiest way to add them and keep them persistent across upgrades.
