How screwed am I?

My server decided to take a shat. I've got the MySQLData directory, however, when I move the files into the new data directory, they're not being recognized.

Help!

Made sure you retained the ownerships when moving the files? They need to be owned by MySQL.

To be honest, I'm at the point where I'd let someone remote my server to help me out.

I haven't used MySQL on windows for sometime but I assume you've changed the datadir in your my.ini file?

Yep, tried copying files into directory, as well

Sounds like you may need a specialist to take a look honestly.

The files you have

Are they a) just copied files from when mysql was running?

or b) Recovered files from the knackered server?

To copy files like that, you have to stop mysql first otherwise you'll end up with data inconsistencies.

Definitely what Slavik said... especially when dealing with InnoDB log files (which you most definitely need if you are dealing with InnoDB tables).

Nope, first stop your MySQL server daemon. Then copy over your files. Next change the files ownership to mysql:mysql more then likely they will currently be root:root. Lastly restart Mysql server and all should be fine.
