Between the DNS prefetch issue and a myriad of other little things, Chrome isn't ready for prime time as yet. It has potential, but it's not on my list of preferred browsers. I have it installed for testing purposes, but that's the extent of my use.
Yes, it depends on a lot of IE things. Like you cannot set your own proxy in it. IT uses IE's settings. I can't remember the other thing that it depended on IE settings. I will remember..
