XF 2.0 Forums super slow since upgrading to XF 2.0.5

Hello,

Ever since upgrading to XF 2.0.5 this weekend (from 1.5.13), my forum has been super slow, and I can't seem to figure out why. It was pretty speedy before, on the same underlying hardware. I notice that when I close the forums, and click around, it's much speedier, but as soon as I open the forums and users come back, it's extremely slow again.

I'm not even sure where to start looking, so I was hoping someone could assist me, or point me in the right direction.

Make sure it isn't style/front end related by testing your site via webpagetest.org. It's my go to for page load testing first. I wrote a WPT how to guide at https://community.centminmod.com/th...getest-org-for-page-load-speed-testing.13859/.

FYI, for me default XF 2 style does seem slower pagespeed wise than XF 1.5 default style from my tests. But doesn't apply if you're not using default style so dependent on your style you use too (provided it's front end related and not backend/server config related).

It looks like my 'first byte time' is horrendous - like 10 seconds! I saw that in Chrome Dev tools as well.

Yesterday, I upgraded to php 7.1 (and php-fpm 7.1), and the site is much better, but still somewhat laggy.

Yes PHP 7 and above has many performance improvements from what I hear. I don't see how someone would upgrade to Xenforo 2 without being on PHP 7.
