I for one find it appauling that people use the XF forums for advertising their stuff for sale. From my point of view it looks massively unproffessional for XF to do so, and find it annoying to read these threads popping up.

I had the same idea weeks back, but refrained from posting it up out of courtesy, and if i was going to do so, I would have gotten permision before doing so. I highly doubt this thread was given permission.

This also goes for the signature this guy uses, nothing against him personally, but plugging his stuff in an oversized signature is also rediculous, how large is it, 300px top to bottom? OTT on almost any board.

Again, why advertise this here? There are many many boards and services specialising in this sort of sale, but posting it here again just seems like taking advantage.

Various for sale threads of XF and vbulletin licences.

No explination needed realy, this should be taken elsewhere for obvious reasons.

Maybe im on my own. Just a suggestion none the less, or the alternative would be to make a classifieds forum only visible to licence holders.

I would support a market place for XF licences, I think it would help keep any leaving customers happy.
For me to support an open market place it would need an option to ignore that forum completely.

No, it should be more like the vB.org forum where people can make service requests and other members then respond when they need something done, problem with that is all responses are via PM there.

I guess a regular forum is needed where members can post service profiles on the forum here for skins, hosting, custom coding and so on, but there would also need to be a comment section available for service reviews where members could leave honest feedback on the particular service pro or con.

I would agree that the number of people now jumping onto the XF bandwagon to make money for themselves is starting to get silly, and having their blatant free adverts dotted all over the forum is tiresome.

I actually like that i can see all the Different XF related "Spam" But would appreciate a "Classifieds/Market Place" or something similar.. I kind of believe those posts are sort of what make the official XenForo forum unique.. Since moving to XF i like the fact this this forum almost 100% takes care of all my XF related needs kind of a one stop shop.. And i for one don't really mind it at all, just wish it was all in one place.

eta: Now some of the more in your face signatures are a different story altogether. :p Those have to go.

I think a Classifieds or Marketplace forum would be better here, or banning them all together. It doesn't really have a place in the Off Topic forums.

No need to ban the topics, they will just be posted on other webmaster forums, there needs to be an open marketplace forum here for XF vendors with the ability for testimonials and reviews positive or negative, and there should be no censorship of review comments by management unless they are posted with malicious intent by a non-customer of that vendor.

I said Yes but voted too quickly.
A classifieds section who be ideal.

Frankly, More than one commercial posting is one too many.
I do find an exception when it comes to a commercial addon such as forum runner. Maybe not.

Commerical can have a disclaimer that XenForo Ltd makes no warranty or guarantee to the posts in classifieds.

Encouraging some what of a marketplace will not only drive additional developers/stylers to the game, but with it could drive additional customers to XenForo due to it's capabilities and show(styles) will be expanded upon.

I'm all for advertising and right now Off Topic seems to be the best place. I'm in no rush to see this happen as I'd rather see the stable release get finalized(even though it's more solid than other software I use:))

And yes* xf related of course

On the subject of web hosting, I think for general sales, other forums, such has WebHostingTalk.com would be much more appropriate, however, for those specific to XenForo, or that offers some sort of specific advantage to those running XenForo, and I mean not in terms of cost (i.e. discount) then it may be more appropriate here.

A said before i don't mind the spam at all because it is XF related.. I like that its all on one forum.. I dont really see this as spam when it comes from a participating/active member. Its those troublesome Viagra bots that kill me. I just think their should be a designated area for this type of content.

Agreed 100% and was the same point i was trying to make..

Who are you to judge what people do with their products, services. If they want to sell and have put the effort, time in then that is their choice. You whine at vbulletin, now your starting to whine here. I provide for free and if I decided I wanted to sell it's not because I'm jumping on the bandwagon it's because for 7 years I've provided resources for free, my time and my expertise .

I stated many times, one minute your all pro then 100% against like a human yoyo. Simple, block the threads you don't want to view and more importantly don't easily judge people for wanting to sell their products/resources.

One moment, putting my car up for sale...
