Design issue Forum marked unread when thread is moved

However, once it was moved to the Implemented Suggestions forum, the forum appears unread even though there are no new posts made.

That is the way our forum software works now. I have been assuming that was on purpose to alert people that something new had occurred, even moving a thread that had been read.

When you look at the forum though, there's nothing new to see. I've already read the thread, there's no new content, only the location of the thread has changed.

Even reading the thread doesn't mark the forum read, so it's still a bug either way. I don't think it should make the forum unread though, as the common understanding is that an unread forum means there's unread content (posts), not the fact a thread has been moved from one location to the other.

It's mainly that it's not technically feasible to mark a forum as ready automatically in that situation. The calculations to do it would be prohibitive.
