My daughter made some chocolate chip cookies last Saturday evening. This may sound odd, but I tried something that made a very subtle difference: cane sugar. Most of the sugar around here is beet sugar, but the store we shop at has cane sugar under its own store brand. The cookies are just a little less sweeter. The next time I make frosting, I'm going to try to track down some powdered cane sugar. It's not easy to find, but it's out there.
It's like the difference between U.S. Pepsi, Pepsi Throwback and Mexican-bottled Pepsi; only the last one is made with cane sugar like in the old days, and there is a big difference. Same with the Coke.
