Food Fantasia

I think for small box its about ~$6-8 in CA, and that isn't quite a pound (To lazy to go check).

Thats pretty cheap compared to honey. I'm expecting honey prices to rise every year due to the problems apiarists are having with colony collapse, disease, and pests.

Buying honey from a retail store is more costly than buying it directly from a bee farmer generally. You also get less variety in flavors more often than not.

It's about the same here.
The price of honey is outrageous if you purchase it in a store.
There are a lot of bee farmers in California so its a lot cheaper here. I generally get mine either at one of the organic markets that is supplied by California farmers or from the farmers market whenever I can get to it.

I'm not too sure about the pricing, but I guess I'll find out at the end of the season when I try to offload 300lbs of honey from my new hives ;)

Hmmm I don't think we have that HFCS here thankfully, will have to check our labels, but here we grow a huge % of the Sugar Cane in the world so it is obviously cheap and readily available so gets used in everything.

Raw cane sugar is $1.00 per Kilogram or about 50 cents per pound - not sure what you guys pay for cane sugar?
I can't recall what I paid here, but it was between $2 and $3 for a four pound bag. (Peggy, if you're reading--do you have Meijer stores over your way in Ohio? They have it in their own store brand.) It is fine (but not powdered).

That's cheap enough :)

Hopefully it is Australian Sugar :D

Nope we don't have Meijer stores here. The three major stores we have, and even the little mom/pop store, sells cane sugar for about $5 (or more) for a pound bag.

About the sugar thing...

Over here, it's mostly beet sugar and we call it "crystal sugar".

Price for sugar varies, but ordinary beet sugar is between 0.80 and 1€ per kilogram

Cane sugar is much (about twice) more expensive and you cannot get it everywhere, but it's what I prefer. The difference in taste is very noticeable especially when it's used to sweeten tea or coffee. I believe, it's also better for your health and I've seen a study stating that one of the reasons why many people prefer the white "crystal sugar" made from beet is because it looks "cleaner" :)

We have that white crystaline sugar too, but it is made from Cane Sugar again... I just prefer the raw unprocessed version :)
