XF 1.3 feed from forum to put on a page for home

ive got a news section to my forum basically.

ive changed the index page to an empty page at the moment, on this page what i want to have is the newest threads from my news forums to be put up.

how can i go about doing this.

To do that properly would require custom development/an add-on.

A quick and dirty way of doing it would be to use an RSS feed aggregator, pulling the feeds from the news section, and embed it into the page.

Or, alternatively

1) Install widget framework addon http://xenforo.com/community/resources/bd-widget-framework.297/
2) Creade widget page node
3) Set this page to be index page
4) Create widget with recent threads from your news forum to be shown at this page

whats the path of the widget pages ?

using the "set index" created a new tab on my navbar, which i dont require, so i want to set it via options > basic board options instead, but i cant find the path.
