Extremely new to doing all this and I need some help.

I hope I am not making a pest of myself and really apologizing if I am. I have never done any database work at all and am really struggling with some of the terminology and pathways for how to get some of the add-ons installed onto my site that need to be there. An example is the following, for the XFA BBCode tabs:

"1. Upload all the files inside the "upload" folder to your XenForo". I don't know whether the author means on my actual web host, or somewhere in my control panel. In either case, I need very, very basic, step-by-step instructions on where to find things and what to do. I'm not used to this interface yet, having come over from ProBoards, and also may need some hand-holding if I have to go into my webhost to do stuff. I'm a quick study once I know where things are, but I feel like a lot of the instructions I have been finding are a couple of steps ahead of where I am in my learning process.

Can anyone help? :-)

I'm still completely lost. I really do need someone to please guide me step by step as to where I am even supposed to look for things. I did upload the folder for the add-on I want to use to where XenForo is installed (I think!). But now, in my CPanel, I am having a tough time figuring out how to navigate to it to get it to install.

I'm sorry about all of this. I'm sure I have to be frustrating everyone with so many basic questions!

Once you upload your files you go to your admin area on XenForo (http://www.yourdomain.com/admin.php)

Then under Installed Add-ons section click the Install Add-on link.

This is where you will upload the .xml file that came with the add-on.

Not surprising. I can't even find where to add it. My webhost isn't answering me about it, either. I don't see anything that says 'Upload'. I am flailing around and guessing, scared I will screw something up and have to start over. I feel like the instructions I get are like six steps down the road from where I need to be (which isn't anyone's fault!).

Okay... one issue I seem to have looks like the CPanel is something on my webhost and not on my forum itself. And I know, Ziva... but I have already run into a problem in that I don't know where to look for this CPanel on my webhost. There is a disconnect between what my host seems to call things and what XenForo calls things, and I am so inexperienced at doing all this that I can't make the correct jumps between terms. So until I figure out just where I am supposed to upload this add-on (and future others) I am dead in the water.

Your host should have given you an FTP username, password and connection URL. Once you have that information, you can use a program such as https://filezilla-project.org/ to connect to your server. Then you can upload your files using FileZilla via FTP. Once this is done, you can go back to where you uploaded the xml file and it should work.

its look like this from your host to email
