XF 2.2 Expiring donation tags

My forum is primarily supported by donations. Site Supporters I call them.
From the start anyone who donated got the site supporter tag and I left it forever.
I want to change that.
I'm looking to see if there is a way to remove the tag from all users.
From then on everyone who donates will have the site supporter tag for one year, then it will automatically disappear unless they reup their donation.
I've looked but not finding anything like that, but I suspect I'm just missing it.
Help please.

You can use the user upgrade feature in xenForo with user groups that are associated with their own supporter tags.

Admin Panel -> Users -> User customization -> User upgrades

I tried that and it works but
I was hoping for something that would give the user a notice it was expiring and a chance to reup their subscription.
I also need a way to remove the current tag from all users before implementing this.
Ideas please.

That depends on how you added it before. You can create a new user group that gives a new one to everyone from this point and delete the one old so previous members no longer have it.

I know there's an addon for that. Might be from either Xon or AndyB. But I would just pick the recurring option for the user upgrade.

Yes, seems like the new user group and deleting the old one would work.

I do not fully understand the recurring option. I thought that was selected by the user when they donated to have it auto donate the following year or not. Will dig into this and might have more questions. THANK YOU!!!!!

I'm setting up a Payment Profile. Never done that before.
I've used Paypal for years but see these other options.
Any recommendations for Braintree Stripe or 2checkout?

Can you add Venmo or others to the Payment Profile?
