XF 2.1 Does an expiring upgrade remove manually added usergroups?

Supposes I added a user group to a member manually. They then buy an upgrade that is configured to add that user group. (Obviously in this case it doesn't add the group as it's already there)

When the upgrade expires, will it remove that group as if not had added it automatically on purchase of the upgrade or will it allow that group to remain because it was added manually before the upgrade?
