XF 2.1 Error code/slow site

My forums have been extremely slow lately. The pages are unresponsive at times, and sometimes I get the error shown in the screenshot. I am using macOS: 10.14.14 with Safari: 12.1

My members using Firefox & Chrome are reporting no troubles or errors.

Looks like your MySQL instance is broken or misconfigured. Check the max_allowed_packet value and also wait_timeout

Looks like the update to 2.1.2 has resolved this.
