Engaged in conversation

My members are getting distracted by certain features available by default on xenforo. Example: the ability to "see" what other members are up to. Click on a user avatar, for example, and see that the user is "engaged in conversation."

OMG! What is this person talking about? Me?

When forum members let their humanity hang out, this all-too-human trait of wondering "what people are saying about me behind my back" becomes a distraction.

Is there a way to prevent this and get the focus back on the forum's threads? What do you do, if anything, to prevent your forum from becoming a "whisper center" or a perceived "whisper center," a collection of cliques?

It happens on any forum and can't really be controlled, honestly.

You can remove the activity line from the member card via the template or turn off convo's to certain user groups.

Another good option if it's only that particular activity that concerns you is to change the phrase.

Change the "Engaged in conversation" phrase to something else, e.g. "Viewing forum list" and that probably solves the problem.
