XF 2.1 delays in conversation messages

Some members are experiencing delays in conversation messages. What is happening is that they get a notification, when they refresh the page the same old msg is displayed, and the notification is on, and about approx 10mins the new msg shows up.

Any idea what could cause this? No new add-ons installed. This happened recently and the last addon installed was maybe a year ago so I do not think there is an addon causing this issue.

If nothing has changed with the XF installation then it has to be something server side.

Perhaps some sort of caching.

Thanks mate. I think it has got something to do with this bug here although I am running the latest stable release.

The bug is marked fixed but it looks like it is still partially happening.
