Enhanced Search 2.2.2 not compatible with Elasticsearch Version: 8.0.0?
I'm able to have it launch on boot, but that seems unrelated.Try to enable the service: "systemctl enable elasticsearch.service" (in case of EL9/Alma/Rocky) so it starts at boot.

I've just upgraded to ES version 8.11.4. It says I need to optimize and so when I do, i get an error:

Is XF 2.3.6 not compatible ?
So I had to reconfigure with the "Use HTTPS connection" option disabled. It works now.Running XF 2.3.6 and ES 8.17.4 and optimization runs fine for me. Maybe try rebuilding cache first through XenForo tools directly, it might be out of sync after and ES upgrade.
Ah. so I just disabled this option "Use HTTPS connection" and saved it. I can now optimise and the search is working. Did I need to keep it enabled?@JoyFreak Yes, there is a new default setting in ES that will prevent HTTPS working out of the box. It came out about a year or so ago. Let me pull up my settings, I think I notated it in there. Without the default setting change, you are correct that an HTTPS connection will not work.
After installing Elasticsearch you will notice, that it will not connect to xenforo. There are multiple errors like you can see here in this thread. You can use the latest Elasticsearch release by changing one line in its current configuration:
step 1 open the elasticsearch configuration file

I would recommend still using HTTPS if you can.

. This is likely the only change you need to make to get https to run once again for Elastic search. Prior to about 14 months ago this was not set to enabled:true

If you do not have certs installed specifically for this you must set it toenabled:false
. This is likely the only change you need to make to get https to run once again for Elastic search. Prior to about 14 months ago this was not set toenabled:true
