XF 2.0 Does image resize work?

Maybe I'm doing something wrong but I've set max image sizes to 1024Kb and 1024x1024. When I try to upload a bigger image I got a "The uploaded file is too large." error message.

Is autoresizing a XF2 feature or do I need a plugin?

I'd like that all the images are resize to a max of 800 px width regardless of the file size but not when I try to upload an image the miniature does't show anything and so the message

please note that before touching these settings, the upload worked without problems...

If I upload an image smaller than 800px everything works perfectly so the problem is in the resizing process...

If you're not running 2.0.2, there's a specific fix related to this situation (non-square attachment dimension limits).
