[DBTech] DragonByte Shout [Lite]

[DBTech] DragonByte Shout [Lite] 7.2.0

Looks nice a nice feature set :), although it did take me a bit to browse to your site and find the Pro version. Mind throwing at least a link in the resource either directly to your site or even better the store item itself.
There's a "More info at www.dragonbyte-tech.com" link in the sidebar, which will take you directly to the product information page for this product :)

I used the 'free' one at my vB and was very happy with it, they make great stuff and good support for addons that sell good (not thinking at triple triad :( )

Unfortunately Triple Triad had to be discontinued because we did not have the rights to the assets (art, sounds) used in that software. We wouldn't have the money to defend ourselves against the tornado of lawyers Square-Enix could be sending after us, after all :P

What when you have some lifetime addons from your company for vBulletin, is there a 'switch to XF' option ?
Is the 'lifetime' again only for the mayor releases, like XF 1.* and have to upgrade the lifetime for XF 2.* like with vB ?

There's unfortunately no "Switch to XF" option, but we're happy to work with customers on an individual basis to try to figure something out to make the switch as painless as possible. Lifetime licenses will be valid across all versions that don't require a major re-write of the code.

We're working on redesigning the site & store page soon. The current design worked back when we had a few products on one platform. As we grew to over a hundred products we discovered it didn't exactly scale well, as you have noticed, so we're redesigning it from the ground up over the coming weeks.

Thanks for this explication, now it's clear why it was abandoned :)

i have uploaded everything from the upload folder to the root. installed the xml.

Is anyone else experiencing this issue? I can't replicate it during testing.

Yes.

After 20 minutes of messing around, reading what is posted here, I finally had the default message appear.

I am now overrun with errors in my AdminCP as well.

All errors continually repeat. This is the only add-on running on this test site. I've literally switched on and off all options, and nothing changes.

This is as far as I can get.

Clicking on the Unhandled Reports tab takes you to an error page:

Missing a phrase in Instance Managment:

Suggestion:

Instead of Clicking on Applications/ DragonByte Tech: Shout and having this appear as a new tab (and only appearing once its clicked):

Why not list those original options under the applications area:

It's confusing, and not what anyone would really expect. If you keep the tab displayed all the time, that's one thing. But to have to click multiple times when it could be located there????

I'll reinstall and test more once others have gotten it to work, I just have run out of options in getting it working properly.

I'll reinstall the mod on my test environment and try again :)

That tab should not be there (yet), I'll hotfix it :)

I'll fix that, thanks :)

This is a by-product of designing the modification to be easy to maintain on both vBulletin and xenForo. In the future, I'll explore alternate solutions, but for the time being this is how it has to be, unfortunately :(

That tab is added when you add the permission.

I know, it's the fact that it's referring to a missing piece of functionality. I won't bother commenting out the Instance Management permission, as the feature will be added soon (TM), but I have hotfixed it for the front-end where users / moderators may actually see it :)

PS: Good news, I worked out a different way of loading the menu (I don't want to use the normal xF Admin Navigation feature for the aforementioned reason) that doesn't require a click through. In Beta 2, it'll show under the DragonByte Tech: Shout menu as normal :)

I've now installed this a second time, on another clean test. (On other site, now at 938 errors).

Same issues, same errors.

Is there any reason you'd need FTP access? I've installed and tested 100's of modifications and styles. If I can't upload the contents to the root, then I shouldn't be installing anything.

I don't mind AdminCP access. FTP though, if there is this much of an issue, perhaps the folders and files aren't where they need to be.

I'd like to add debug code to my files in order to determine where exactly the issue is. This is not something that can be resolved with a simple AdminCP account unfortunately, as the likely reason is a bug in the files that I cannot replicate (tried clean install 4 times on my test environment).

If you are unwilling to provide FTP access to resolve this, maybe @Mozzie can help? If not, we would need to wait until someone who is experiencing this issue is willing to help me debug it =/

Fillip

When back on forum home, it still does not appear.
That should be resolved in an upcoming hotfix.

The server error logs won't help with that?
Unfortunately not, because I need to find out why they happen, not just that they happen. If this was a universal problem with the code, then I would be able to replicate it in my test environment. Something is wrong somewhere, which is causing a chain of issues including the server logs, but I need to find the root cause.

Could you please assist me in resolving this issue? It's 3 AM here, and I would really like to resolve this before going to bed :)

Just installed this on my test server (fresh xenforo 1.5.1 install) and seem to have same problems as @Sheldon. As that VPS is only used for my PHP7 testing purposes, I guess I can give a temporary FTP access to it. I will send a private message in a few.

Interesting, maybe the issue is exclusive to PHP7. I'm unable to test PHP7 locally due to the fact that vBulletin 3 and 4 are nowhere near compatible with PHP7 at this time.

I will check out your installation as soon as possible (probably in approx. 3-4 hours, I'm about to head out just now). Thanks! :D
