Ah! Sorry make Location required. Then you should be able to reproduce. This happened after an import and users could not edit profiles. I troubleshot it and found it was the add-on. I am unlikely to encounter it again. Perhaps it is not a bug since making it required and hiding it does not make sense but just letting you know.

Edit: Update, I hadn't confirmed my email yet. Now it works.

I didn't read through all 5 pages, but my preference would be to create a mod queue item when a user changes these fields so that a moderator can approve/reject them, rather than completely remove the fields.
 
Nice work, as usual. One suggestion. A review seems to indicate that this doesn't "remove" any data. It hides the fields stated from being shown during registration. Any data that may already be in these fields seems to be shown. If this is the case, then it might help to add this to the description so users know they may need to edit templates to remove the field from being shown when there is data. As a spam prevention tool it works well. Thank you for your work.

I can't make this work. I want to make the "website" field not visible to users that haven't reached a certain user level. A secondary suggestion might be to put something like "you don't have permission to edit this field yet" inside the text box. I don't want new users to be able to promote themselves. No matter how I set the permissions, that field still appears for that user level and is editable. This is XF 2.2.11, add-on v. 1.4.3.

In addition it would be great to have an explanation of how the permissions work. What actions do yes, no and never actually take?

Fields are removed from the template, but the data remains in the database if any fields were edited before.
