XF 2.1 Custom Fields and Thread move -- Custom fields data lost

Two forums with identical custom thread fields.
On moving the thread from one to the other forum, the custom fields data is lost.

This sounds like the same issue as this:

Is the code change you made for that issue still in effect?

Yes, 3 files that were changed are still the same.
Additional input (though may be irrelevant)
I had renamed the destination Node. The associated custom fields are there as all old threads are not impacted.
Also, time and again, see site was upgraded in the background notification. What is this notification about?

I see this too. At this moment, I'm unsure. It's on my radar so don't worry for now.

Looks like instead of the usual thread move, in this case it was Post move (my mistake).
I moved a pending-for-move thread and it worked fine.
