CODForums moves to xenForo!

mmmhmm.... alright. :(

What is the mmmhmm for? I am speaking from experience. I personally don't like being called Devil, unless I am certain its from someone I was in the service with. It's your site obviously, you can do as you please. I just offered a better suggestion.

Nothing really, it's an expression. Like "awe crap."

Go back to the reply, I edited it more. :)

EDIT: Alright, Stewart, I've made changes on your suggestion.

Congrats. Nice theme you have there, your forum is the first forum I've seen using that theme yet it is a premium theme available to anyone, (maybe I need to search harder) so technically it's a *fairly* unique theme more like a custom theme so that's an added bonus ;)

Besides this COD is fairly huge to say the least, yet considering the billion dollar sales it reaches, your site needs to tap in the user base more. Perhaps you should customize it more in the sense of making it more specialized than just simple discussions.

ZeroHour is a premium theme, it was obtained from xenStyles. I paid $21 for the theme. I made a some edits here and there. When I tried to edit it even further, it would look a lot uglier on my screen. I assumed it'd look ugly to other users. :( So, the way it's designed right now is what I can do. Soon, I'll go back and check in with John to see what I can do about some things I'd like to edit.

I'm currently awaiting on another person on forum ranks, and then maybe in Feb, we'll have these medals deployed to trophies. But the first thing I want to do is focus on the ranks.

Oh, and by the way, I had an argument with another person in another thread, and I was like "funny you should say that," to your "tap in the userbase more." Because I was saying that the owner of a gaming site needed to tap into the market more.

I do understand what you mean, and that's why I wanted to buy CODForums in the first place.

These are the current competition numbers:

Borderlands 2 Forum: Threads: 3,373, Posts: 17,458, Members: 5,479 (THIS is a perfect example of a high post(s)-to-members ratio.)

THIS is embarrassing compared to the above....

The worst part is, this site is owned and operated by a company called CURSE.

Keep in mind, that most of the listed sites are on a plain vBulletin 3 skin. Except recently, BO2 Forum revamped to look like a sexy BO2 Forum.

Couple things I'd change....

Get Twitter into the block beside the pelican. Change the pelican.

Remove the Follow @ CODForums on Twitter thing above the breadcrumb

Remove the sidebar inside the forums. I realize you might like ads, but it makes the forums look insanely small.

The width of the entire forum just seems really small. Even smaller than normal fixed width ones, I suppose because of that sidebar.

Also, I think you need to match the colors on the main page, Discussion Topics to the replies and username... whichever direction, but I think they need to be the same.

Running a gaming site like that, you should open up your postbit a bit more. Most like to "show-off" things. Install that add-on here to link PSN and XBox and Steam (oxym0ron created it).

Smaller things that take little time, and little effort to at least give off the impression there is activity there.

Don't really know how to do that. Need to check in with John, the coder of the skin.

Not happening. I want more attention to that Twitter account. And the same can be said about the Facebook box.

Did you know where the Twitter button sits - that's not a skin template, but an ad template? That's where the ads would go if I didn't have the mindset below...

Not happening, either. The ads are placed there for a reason; The whole point of the sidebar was to make the ad non-intrusive for users. If I put it on the breadcrumbs, it would be an annoying nuisance. Footer ads don't really pay much because in my experience I don't really go all the way down unless I want to explore what else is there.

On my computer, [ahem] my resolution of 1152 x 864 it looks fine. On my mom's laptop it looks fine, too. The other reason why I keep it the way it is, is because I sometimes have a hard time reading a typical vBulletin post because it's so #@^&ing wide (at least in related COD sites). I sometimes had to move my head from right to left, now I use my eyeballs to keep track of what is being said.

Oh, and one more thing, There isn't a fixed version of ZeroHour, the typical design looks like this. (If it doesn't show, go down to the skin chooser and look for ZeroHour.)

Whatchoo talking about, they are. The consistency is still there.

We already have PSN/Xbox/Steam fields. The reason why you're not seeing enough of them, is because members aren't utilizing the profile system.

I would have added right bar activity stuff, but the ad is in the way and I do not want to crowd that right bar too much. Clean and simple. Good enough for me.

Activity is at an all time high, you don't see it, but it's there. I'm not the bragging type.

Wouldn't you want more focus on the activity of your forums, than Twitter followers? If you don't have effort put in at your site, you can Tweet all you want, no one will visit.

Don't see it, neither do others, I am certain.

Either way, just suggestions. I'm sure visitors who see the style and a blank Twitter block wonder what is up.. or why it is there. Others in this thread have also suggested your forum is really narrow, but you seem to overlook that.

Good luck with your site.

Stats are telling me otherwise. :) Hell, more people are retweeting our news more than ever before.

Oh, that. I wanted it like that to make it easy on the eyes. Dark Orange for that bit is a lil hard on the eyes. I already tried it. It looks bad.

I don't think I can fix it. It's not really fixed. I said this already....

Go and check it out. Compare.

Thanks.

Could easily move the search bar with CSS... also the middle image (with the pelican, just extend it a bit, or even center it...)

Just sayin'. I'm sure others might agree... it just looks small.

Looks like I have to talk to Mr. John. :-/
