CODForums moves to xenForo!

I highly recommend you get COD theme, a simple header won't do it. There are some talented theme creators that may be willing to make you a custom theme to match your website. It also helps to learn how to use Photoshop for small images here and there.

Definitely. I'm working on that.

lol I hope not. I believe people with "cod" or "modernwarfare" in their domains were getting C&D letters. Shoot...even one of my friends that do not have it in their title (like me) was getting a C&D from IW. I'd be scared to have such a domain name...hell, I'm even wondering when I'll be getting my C&D from them. They want all the COD stuff on their servers...hopefully you go unnoticed.

The only thing I think that has been keeping a legal team off of me is we claim to be a fan site. If you claim that, then I think you'll be ok.

One THOUSAND dollars? On what!?
I spent, TOTAL, something like 200 dollars for my website, license and all.
CODForums and 5 other domains.

One of them was a Black Ops blog.

I acquired the CODForums database, vB license (vB3 > vB4 license), a vBSEO license, a beautiful vB3 skin that ultimately screwed up on server move. I was going to leave the instance alone once the server move was done. When we made the switch (tech friend of mine and I), there were a lot of errors all of a sudden. I decided to upgrade the vB instance to vB4 after a unsuccessful upgrade to 3.7/3.8.x

I got a refund though - Voila.

The guy that sold it told me that the skin was a thousand dollars by itself; I imagine the mobile skin costed more. However, I think the price is worth it. Getting ahold of the competitor forum will cost you more than 10 grand. I know because I approached the owner asking for the price, he originally asked for 3 grand, then a few months later he turns around and inflates the price.

The call of duty forums competition is getting really hot right now. More and more Call of Duty forums are being made now more than ever, so the acquisition puts me in a really good position in the industry.

By the time the new Call of Duty is out, it will be HARD to find a really good COD domain for a forum.

The list of forums is getting crowded right now.

Then hadnt you better get a theme sorted ASAP?
Apart from your logo, nothing sells your site to me as being a COD site. Im a COD fan, just playing MW3, but looking at your site nothing makes me want to sign up. :cautious:

I have to agree with Dave--a good domain name alone won't net you members. The lack of content or a polished custom theme would turn potential members away, I would imagine.

All suggestions heard, and noted.

As mentioned before: I'm waiting for 1.1 before doing anything.

No offence Carlos, but MW3 has just been released so Im gussing that this is a vital moment to try and grab COD fans. Even if you didnt want to get a full theme made until 1.1 is out, then you could have at least chose something more suitable then using the default xenforo theme.

Now I like the default theme, but on a site such as yours it looks a bit "girly". However if you had a theme like the one you posted 3 months ago, I would be pretty interested in joining.
[Style Request] Call of Duty

I'm sorry you feel that way. But regardless of what you guys say, I have been seeing a rise of registration, threads, and replies. When I do get the skin done, that will push CODForums a lot further. Like I said before, that's barely even scratching the surface.

The largest MW3 forums were on default vBulletin style, only a few color changes here and there - yet the freakin' site(s) exploded. No coding, no design tweaks, nothing. CODForums' old skin was more than just a cosmetic design tweak, the whole thing was torn apart and designed from the ground up.

Why does your guest message call me the devil?
It's Marine talk. I asked a Marine for advice to reach out to them as a "welcome."

The Modern Warfare series has Marines as a primary group. However, in Modern Warfare 2, there's alternation in group types, and then into Modern Warfare 3, more groups are available.

These groups vary depending on the map itself.

I know about the groups in the games :P, just saying that to people that don't know marine talk (haven't even heard them call someone a devil in the game series either) then it will sound kind of rude.

We like being called Devil Dog as well. Devil works, but usually only amongst Marines. We usually don't like civilians calling us Devil.

why not pay someone to convert your current style?
That would require capital. Ahem. Money.

Which at this point I do not have. My company is a start-up, it is very small, and not mature enough to spend money for redesigns.

I'm currently writing a business plan but I'm re-charging batteries at the moment.

But your current theme is incomplete it shouldnt be publicly available or viewable.

You can go over to the digital point forums and request a quote for doing the job, search for custom themes for xenforo via google some are only $250 if you already have a theme and just need it converted it may even be less but still do get a quote..
