Add-on Classifieds for XF2

For the sake of posterity and again as I don't see this on the first few pages, we desperately need a good and supported Classifieds addon for XF 2.

I would type up some better requirements but currently on a phone so recommend you look at the last few pages of the old Gfnlabs Classifieds addon for inspiration (please don't be inspired to abandon it half way though similarly to GFN) :)

Hit the Like button to move this up the priority list.

Fame and fortune must surely follow.

Because we have an allergy to old threads, here's an excerpt of what I kicked off before a certain member decided to 'adopt it' only to promptly abandon it thereafter....

The premise of the addon (chime in as needed) is as follows:

Facilitates private one to one transactions between forum members.

Seller View
- List items for sale within a given category (categories predefined by admin i.e. cars, parts, services etc)
- BUMP unsold items periodically (permission based) to top of list
- Modify own items x number of times (permission based)
- Mark item as SOLD by seller thereby closing ad to further exchanges
- Mark item as DELETED by seller (completely removing ad from classifieds system)
- Feature own classified (premium/purchasable feature)
- Renew classifieds (see premium features)

Guest View (Unauthenticated)

Buyer View (Authenticated)
- Separate Classifieds tab/page
- User selectable Grid or List view of all active classifieds
- View Top level sticky ads and/or sliders for featured items (see kijiji as a perfect example of how this is done)
- View/Sort by date, price, title, username
- Sidebar filters (left or right):
-- Generic filters by category, by location (country, state/province/county, city), price (low/high), listing type (sale, wanted)
-- Category specific filters: custom fields per category i.e. car make, mileage, year for example

Item Create View
- Create Item
- Select category
- Specify prefix/title
- Short description
- Custom fields (per category)
- Long Description
- Optional image attachments/gallery in ordered list
- Location/Map (google maps lookup)
- Price and currency (defaulted by admin)
- Package (see purchasable/premium features)

Item Display View (Member)

Item Display View (Guest)

Automation
- Each category is linked to a forum
- Each ad auto creates a thread

Does anyone know of any ongoing classifieds or forum sales tools? I know XFA had the one I'm using in XF1, but there doesn't seem to be an ETA to be found on their site. Even if I have to move to a new system, this is a "must-have".

Xfa doesn't have a straight up classifieds addon that I know about.

I'm not aware of any currently supported Classifieds addon for any version of xf.

Good. Let us know if you need some help/requirements etc.
Lists like in first post of thread do help a lot. Each customer has his/her own requirements, such lists show what features are important to each customer. While its impossible to make them all work, it helps narrow down most important features. :)

Sorry, it is the "Forum Sales" add-on that I was using, and I also had the RM version from them too.

I think you saw this before in the other GFN thread but here's my wishlist.

Important features:
1. Dedicated ad page
2. Child forums for ads - with shortcuts to ad create (buttons) instead of new post
3. Buyer/seller messaging shortcuts
4. Feedback system
5. Proper Ad lifecycle management i.e. open, close, delete, expire, re-post (x times) ads
6. Custom ad fields that are configurable/searchable
7. User group permissions - view, post, number of ads to post
8. Easy to use sidebar filters (location, category, keyword, type etc)
9. Good thumbnail and gallery handling
10. Searchable
11. Ad expiry/auto cleanup and my ads shortcuts
12. Shareable
13. Featured/Sponsored block
14. Tiled/Grid/List Views
15. Sidebar blocks (latest ads for example)
16. BUMP ad - with permissions

I would suspect a classifieds addon would be an undertaking.
It would have to be developed by someone that is going to
commit to the project think or thin, otherwise, once that
inital buzz wears off, then the developer is on a beach
with all the money he made to pay for his vacation....
(in other words, this item is no longer supported...)

Exactly.

In fact, I'd rather it be taken on with someone who has a good reputation here, and with large/complex addons which this would no doubt be, or not at all. As long as it's thorough and the dev listens to requests, I don't care if it's $250. There's money to be made here if someone's up to the task.
