I actually notice it on my desktop now, but it's not nearly as noticeable. All Pages is definitely the most laggy, other options are much less noticeable.
By spamming letters, I mean do this,

Yeah, I don't need these for live discussions. Some get well over 1500 posts in less than a few hours which can be a frustrating time.

In this case it doesn't meter how the messages are stored, it will be the same. The little lag you are seeing is because of the JS and not because of the server response. You really don't need 1 second refresh rate in my opinion.

You can change it yourself from the code but you will have to that every time you update. Please give some examples of commands you want to implement. Maybe I can make a custom bot system.

@Dylan V, I don't think so. Pure AJAX chat systems doesn't work like that. It depends on the refresh rate. If it's 1 second, then the message will be displayed fast for everyone.


Try the "Enable new message window blink alert" option instead. The problem with the sound in this case is that if you have multiple windows opened where the chat is displayed, the sound will play on each one.

Please do not make a file based message system for everyone, for many of us the chat works fine and the feature set is what we are after/wanted. If you do make a file based system i would say it might be best to make it another add-on of its own, a kinda paid lite version.

Started on "Join Room" display. Given each new "room" ability to have it's own icon to represent what it is, or about. I've simply used Font Awesome, as that is fastest to work with, but small changing of CSS would allow an actual image of a motorcycle, or the android in an icon...

New Features, Improvements & Bug Fixes

User Tag Improvements
Tag Alert Notifications (Enable/Disable Admin Option)
Link tagged users to their profile (Enable/Disable Admin Option)
Remove @ character from message if you have the XF option "Keep @ character with user tagging" unchecked.
When typing with @ in the chat input, the user list will show up for easy tagging.

New Message Feature
You can now Quote chat messages very easily by clicking the "Quote" icon of the message.
