Better Blogs [Deleted]

Would be nice if the XF visitor panel has consistency, for starters that it appears on the blog homepage for the user, and also why not use the sidebar_visitor_panel hook to insert blog posts into the visitor panel, and also bring default XF messages, likes & points onto the blog visitor panel. That way the user aspect is consistently themed.

Instead, between forum to differing blog pages, you have created the below:

This homepage "refresh" thing is an issue... why isn't a comment live posted to the comments block, without having to refresh the page? I have the options caches set for 1 minute, and even after that time, the comments still don't appear because you're then fighting with browser caching as well. You have to literally click a button to see the latest content.

This really needs to be improved IMHO.

I am unable to customize my blog. I wonder if there's an addon or if my style is clashing with this.

Oh crap. I set the default style but now I can't 'unselect it'. How do I unselect the default style in Blog Options?

I installed a default xenforo theme and still not able to customize it. So it's probably not my style.

Two questions:

1. I have set up vanity subdomains by following your steps (I've enabled it in config.php, added the wildcard *.skyrimforums.org DNS record and asked my host to set up apache to catch the subdomains). In the options I've added my domain twice (skyrimforums.org) in the first and second fields and left the cookies field blank. I think I must have made an error there. Anyway, if I access a subdomain e.g. http://ijsdfjfiosdj.skyrimforums.org it just redirects to skyrimforums.org, same if I do my username http://renegader.skyrimforums.org

2. When I've created an entry, and I click 'customise blog', I can edit the title, content and description but when I click page or body nothing comes up.

I am not giving support for the multisite, since there are so many combinations of servers and setup, I am, however, offering professional support for that particular option, as detailed in the second post - http://xenforo.com/community/threads/better-blogs-paid.36836/#post-420053

Can you reproduce that at XfAddOns.com ? I just went to check my blog and I can customize it just fine
What browser are you using?

I went here
http://xfaddons.com/index.php?xfa-blogs/kentaurus.1/

And tried the popup on the navigation for Forums, Members, Help, the user, Inbox, Alert
All of them work

Put it at 0 instead to disable the caching

Same here. Can't customize it even with default xenforo style.

What templates use your customization block?

Just to give everybody an update, I am acknowledging this as the bugs that have been reported to me, and I have been able to reproduce.

Some bugs
  1. The fragment in the index page can get double quoted, and the content is displayed as "
  2. The breadcrumb either links to the home page, or the forums, but not both
  3. Miscelaneous bugs with the breadcrumb not showing the correct crumbs
  4. The blog home may show private entries (they are not being filtered out)
  5. When viewing "online users", if the user is browsing home page it says unknown page
  6. The attachment step on LNBlogs was showing a "division by zero" error
Unconfirmed bugs
  1. Alerts do not work on the main home page (I can't reproduce)
Suggestions
  1. Add an RSS icon somewhere in the blog
  2. Add a link to my blogs under the members tab
  3. Add a link to my blogs on the user drop box menu
  4. Add a link to the blog on the member profile (already exists on the card)
  5. Substitute "0 comments" for "Add a comment"
  6. Add a tab in the member profile with recent blog entries
  7. Options for rel=follow links
Bigger Suggestions
  1. Ability to make individual entries private
  2. Have a dedicated page with a paginated list of all the blogs in the system
  3. Enable guest comments
Other suggestions
  1. Change the url from xfa-blogs to something else - will not be done, use route changer if you want that

I'm giving priority to the bugs, first, and to the generic usability of the product second. I would most likely not implement new and ground breaking features right now until everything is working flawlessly. That means none of the "bigger suggestions" I will be working on for now.

Same here. Can't customize it even with default xenforo style.

What templates use your customization block?
It's difficult for me to fix it, since it's working for me. What browser are you using?
Could you temporarily switch to the full screen mode and see if customization works there? Any javascript errors?

Default XF style, 1.1.3 install, only XF ES addon enabled. No style template modifications.

  1. Go to the above link. Hover your mouse over the 'member' or 'help' menu, and watch nothing drop-down as it should. This reflects into the visitor tabs as well, for those logged in. There is an error, as I've tested this on three browsers now, and the same result on each. At a rough guess, it has something to do with your customize code, as that is the page in which a user controls the customization of their blog, which happens to render XF drop-down script useless.
  2. Permissions error: When setting guests to view blogs, the blog tab does not show.

Thanks for the link, it helped me debug it further
A file is missing, the js/xfa-colorpicker folder is missing completely
i.e. http://seotesting.com/js/xfa-colorpicker/jquery.miniColors.js

Somehow the zip package didn't have it, I have fix that, could you please re-download the file (105b) and just upload the files in the "js" directory? That should fix the error

http://xfaddons.com/index.php?threads/better-blogs-1-0-5.83/

8thos, that is also the root cause for the customization not working, the javascript was not there.

Lovely... that fixed that issue.

Permissions issue is still present though, which means search engines can't find the blog content.

Thanks for the update and I had already tried in Firefox and Chrome before I reported it.

Not testing anything in IE. :ROFLMAO:
