RM 1.1 Best method to manually convert a thread into a resource?

Are there instructions anywhere for the best method to "manually" convert a thread (which has a downloadable resource in the first post) into a RM resource? If not, any specific recommendations?

All you can really do is:

• Create the resource and add the file
• Delete the file from the original thread
• Merge the new resource discussion thread with the original thread, or use Chris' add-on to change the resource discussion thread
