Barefooting

What's the reason behind your lack of feeling? Speaking for myself, I had extremely sensitive soles despite my habitual footwear choice.
Kier, I have a condition called Peripheral Neuropathy. Mine is caused by diabetes, but only there are over 100 causes to PN, the three top are diabetes, alcoholism and idiopathic. And with that condition, they recommend you always have something on your feet.

I'm sorry to hear your condition prevents you from enjoying one of life simplest pleasures of rediscovering life without shoes, but clearly your health and wellbeing must come first.

Thank you. I deal with it. Been dealing with it for 10 years. After awhile you forget what you are missing. Liz

Started off my day today dropping Elliot to nursery. My feet and I used to get quizzical glances from the girls who run the place but now they take it completely in their stride.

Random foot question: Anyone tried walking on coals?
Yeah, don't run, distribute weight evenly or your hit. I did it when I was in martial arts , and believe it or not in my experience... it's almost similar to lighting a lighter and passing your hand over the flame. It's all timing and duration. It's standing STILL on coals that's the true test of your will and which i don't recommend. I will say if you are going to try this make sure you find someone who knows how to burn down the cinder to the right point and make sure they have done this before. Confidence is your friend with this.

Ooooor, just walk on nice surfaces like grass and pavement rather than subjecting yourself to the risk of burns from doing something completely unnecessary?
100% right , the only reason I did it like I said was in training we were taught self control and one important aspect of it is...the greater a risk something poses the more you must be aware of every action you make around it.

I must agree with you , 8 years later I will not be running through any flames, or stepping on any more coals. Other than for reasons of control of your fears under the guidance of a professional I would not recommend it as you can get seriously hurt even doing it the "right" way if there is such a thing in this situation ( we're talking about playing with fire here yah know) I don't advocate doing this, have done it and was merely commenting on a question. But I must say the only reason you don't wear shoes is the rubber soles will melt to your feet, that's enough reason to say...Don't try this at home...please, I would feel like crap. Thank you for bringing this up Kier or I would have never thought to mention it. Probably not the post I should have gotten skimpish on words with.

I would hope that the people here wouldn't need such a warning, EQnoble, but thanks for providing one anyway.

What I would recommend though, is the next time any of you find yourself walking on a suitable surface, take a moment to remove your shoes and reconnect with your environment. There's a very good chance you'll really like it.

We have a patch of lawn that is just bliss to walk on bare footed, but only one area out the front, lol the rest out the back is pretty rugged with Bindii and plenty of dog bombs to be cautious about :p

Not really that bad, I lived most of my life in pretty upmarket areas of Sydney...
Cool, we live in sister cities. I'm in Sydney , Nova Scotia :D I fact, 2 or 3 times a year we get people flying in to Sydney, NS who were expecting to land in Sydney, Australia. Those silly airline people....
