XF 1.5 avatar and default resource icon not showing

don't know what I did but default resource icon or avatar stopped showing. Properties are set 777 recursive directories.

Greatly appreciate your suggestions.

The icons appear fine to me when viewing your site.

Try a Shift F5 on your browser (if you are on Windows). Try busting the cache and see if it shows up.
Also, if using nginx and throttling by number of connections, if you have more than 1 tab open to your site, you may be reaching the max connection limits unless you whitelisted your IP (I had that happen on my IPS site).
