Ashton Kutcher 'to replace Charlie Sheen in Two and a Half Men'

Alright, did anyone watch the premiere last night? I found myself laughing several times. They might do alright with Ashton. I was quite entertained. (y)

I just don't know if I am ready...I don't wanna get punk'd

but seriously...it really wasn't that bad?

Hard to say.
I felt it was a bit flat.
I really don't like the goofy billionaire thing.
I guess we will see.

At best mixed reviews.

All good things .....
I felt that Jon Cryer (Alan) really pulled through in this episode. I don't mind the goofy billionaire thing and I rather expected the character would be goofy seeing as it is Ashton we're talking about here. They are obviously writing the character to be very little like Charlie, which I think is wise.

I think mixed reviews are fine and usually expected. Not everyone is going to like it. They'll just have to step up the writing and keep the show funny. Personally, I thought yesterday's episode was quite hilarious...especially when Ashton first showed up at the house. :D

I watched a bit of it... But really, it was only funny because they were mocking Charlie Sheen, and that won't last a whole season.

Kutcher doesn't have the acting ability to make up for Charlie not being on the show (I've never seen anything worth watching with him in it where he was the main character, only really as a supporting character).

Well, to each their own. I'll be tuning in to see how it turns out. They'll have to do some brilliant writing. I think Ashton might be able to pull it off.

Two and a Half Men will last through this season. Its like how traffic in the northbound lane slows down around a southbound accident. Folks will watch to see how its going to turn out. But the numbers are slowly going to drop.

Next season, the numbers will plummet right from the get-go and it won't last but a few weeks before it is pulled in favor of a mid-season replacement.

Time to go to the bookies (y)

I really hope that it will pull through but I do not think that it will be the same as before with Charlie. He really had that role nailed.
He really didn't even need to act...he was just being himself. I agree that it won't be the same as before...but that's the one thing that always bothers me - when an actor leaves, they try to get someone else like them instead of just trying something different. I like how they didn't do that with Ashton here.

Exactly, that is why he was so realistic as Charlie Harper. I have not seen the new episode with Ashton Kutcher yet but from reading the reviews here and on other places it looks like it wasn''t as bad as I thought it would have been.

I was definitely thinking it was going to be worse. I was pleasantly surprised and while there will be many who didn't like it, I thought it was a quite successful episode. I, too, hope to see the show remain successful.

I think Ashton's role isn't the best it could be for an opening episode. The introduction was a little like "HEY EVERYONE I JUST TRIED KILLING MYSELF LOL ISN'T LIFE GREAT" as opposed to "my girlfriend just left me I'm so upset". The approach they've taken with ending the episode on a threesome seems like they're trying to turn Ashton into Charlie, from the whole committed boyfriend to bachelor.

I also didn't like how he agreed to buying the house, it's Charlie-like attitude. "I like it, I'll buy it" seems like a Charlie approach.

I'm hopeful though :)

It's showing on Comedy Central in the UK tonight at 9, so I'll be sure to come and share my opinion once I've viewed it. I'm not ashamed to admit I love Charlie Sheen.. always have, and I do wonder if his meltdown was real or intentional. But, like his character, Charlie seems to have come out of it smelling of roses.

Can't say I'm holding out much hope for Ashton doing justice to the show, but they are one hell of a pair of shoes to fill, let's be honest - love him or loathe him, Charlie's character in Two and a half Men was what the show was about.
