Any plans about XF suggestions?

We aren't even collecting which third party add-ons you have installed, we're only collecting how many. So it's not like it's telling us "hey, X people all have a blog add-on so we should make a blog add-on" or anything like that.

Is there a reason why you are not collecting info about which third party addons have been installed? Of course with the consent of the owners and perhaps addon owners? Wouldn't that help you to see in which area the XF software needs the most enhancements? Just thinking out loud here and can't think of a reason why you should not also collect that info?

I can think of at least one reason: because then the usual culprits will spring up say it's proof that they're just focusing on the most popular addons, stealing money from third-party devs, lacking their own original ideas, etc. etc.

So, is the assumption correct that the change for suggestions will be that they will be converted to the new thread types?

Basically we’ll just convert that forum to a suggestion type roughly the same day we upgrade XF.com to 2.2.

We feel a dedicated suggestion forum will make a big difference on its own though along with that discussion (which we’ve been having for years and very nearly built the suggestion stuff out as a bespoke add-on here until we came up with the thread/forum type stuff) there our also some changes to procedure that we’d like to introduce which may involve more transparency over which suggestions we’re giving consideration to. However I should note that we’ve not totally decided the best approach to that all yet so we’ll announce some stuff closer to the time.
